Материалы (сплавы) для проводников электрич. тока; хар-ризуются высокой электропроводностью (малым электросопротивлением) в сочетании с достат. хорошими механич. св-вами и химич. устойчивостью в окруж. среде. Значит, часть п. м. использ. в виде проводов, хотя возможно тж. применение их в виде полос, плит, колец и изделий др. форм. Наиб, широко в кач-ве п. м. используется медь раз-ной чистоты и малолегиров. сплавы на ее основе. К числу п. м. на основе меди для работы при обычных темп-pax относится Cd-бронза (0,9—1,2 % Cd) с электропроводностью ок. 95 % электропроводности меди, но с приблизит, вдвое большей прочн. Для работы при повыш. темп-pax использ. Сu- сплавы, содерж. неб. добавки Сr и Zr (до 1 %), с электропроводностью около 80 % от электропроводности меди.
Вторая группа п. м. — малолегиров. сплавы на основе А1 с электропроводностью ок. 65 % электропроводности меди, но меньшим уд. весом. Проводниковые Аl-сплавы легируют добавками Mg, Si (по 0,3-0,7 %) и < 0,3 % Fe. Находят тж. применение п. м. сост. из прочной стальной сердцевины с малой электропроводностью и внеш. оболочкой из менее прочных Аl-сплавов с высокой электропроводностью.
